Alexandra Garcia is a documentary film director based in Brooklyn.

Alex is a three-time Emmy-winning documentary director and producer. Her films for The New York Times, The Weekly, and The New York Times Presents on FX and Hulu include “Dominic Fike: At First,” “The Forger,” “They Get Brave,” “The Sicario,” and “El Chapo’s Son: The Siege of Culiacan.” Her films have won the Audience Award at the Hot Docs International Film Festival and the Best Short Film Award at the Hot Springs International Film festival, along with being screened in film festivals worldwide.

Alex is currently the Supervising Producer for Op-Docs, the New York Times's series of short documentaries by independent filmmakers. She has over a dozen News and Documentary Emmy nominations for her work and was formerly a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.

She was born in Bogotá Colombia and studied painting before realizing that the real world was more interesting than her imagination. She is obsessed with the visual language of the internet and justifying her time at art school by making documentaries that innovate with strong visual concepts.
